Puffins / Reindeers / Lynx / Lion cubs / Gray wolf pups

Puffins on the birdisland Runde (It is famous for its enormous amount of birds. It is said that there are about 500,000 to 700,000 seabirds inhabiting the island, most of them are to be found in the cliffs.)

The reindeer (Rangifer tarandus), also known as caribou in North America, is a species of deer with circumpolar distribution, native to Arctic, Subarctic, tundra, boreal and mountainous regions of northern Europe, Siberia, and North America. This includes both sedentary and migratory populations.
While overall widespread and numerous, some of its subspecies are rare and at least one has already gone extinct.

The Lynx is a solitary, skilled hunter that haunts the remote northern forests of North America, Europe, and Asia. Lynx are covered with beautiful thick fur that keeps them warm during frigid winters. Their large paws are also furry and hit the ground with a spreading toe motion that makes them function as natural snowshoes. Lynx mate in early spring or late winter. About two months later, females give birth to litter of one to four young.

August 31, 2010, the National ZOO welcomed a litter of four lion cubs. This is the first litter for five-year-old Shera and the first surviving litter for four-year-old Luke. Through extensive planning, knowledge of the lion's natural history, and an understanding of the Zoo's lions, zookeepers successfully built a pride of lions over nearly two years. The birth of the lion cubs marks the next step in building a pride.

The breeding season of the gray wolf comes in late winter; in early spring, approximately 63 days after mating, five to seven pups are born. Their nursery is an underground burrow prepared by the female with the help of the male. The pups are blind and covered with soot-colored fur at birth, and soon learn to hunt and care for themselves by watching their parents.

Huntington Beach, California, USA

Huntington Beach is a seaside city in Orange County in Southern California. The city is named after American businessman Henry E. Huntington. According to the 2010 census, the city population was 189,992; making it the largest beach city in Orange County in terms of population. The estimate for 2013 shows that the population is 197,575. It is bordered by the Pacific Ocean on the southwest, by Seal Beach on the northwest, by Costa Mesa on the east, by Newport Beach on the southeast, by Westminster on the north, and by Fountain Valley on the northeast.

Huntington Beach (AKA "H.B.") is known for its long 9.5-mile (15.3 km) stretch of sandy beach, mild climate, excellent surfing, and beach culture. The ocean waves are enhanced by a natural effect caused by the edge-diffraction of open ocean swells around the island of Catalina. Swells generated predominantly from the North Pacific in winter and from a combination of Southern Hemisphere storms and hurricanes in the summer focus on Huntington Beach creating consistent surf all year long, thus the nickname "Surf City, USA".

My totally beloved band Avenged Sevenfold grew up and currently reside here.
That's why I'm crazy about this area :)

Thank you again, Kimberly!

Greetings from Orange County, California, USA

Orange County is a county in the U.S. state of California. As of the 2010 census, the population was 3,010,232 making it the third-most populous county in California, the sixth-most populous in the United States, and it more populous than twenty-one U.S. states. Its county seat is Santa Ana. It is the second most densely populated county in the state, second only to San Francisco County. The county's three largest cities, Anaheim, Santa Ana, and Irvine, each have populations exceeding 200,000.

My beloved rock/metal band Avenged Sevenfold grew up and currently reside in Huntington Beach (one of the cities in the O.C.). I'm so happy that I have this postcard in my collection!
I'm trying to get as much postcards connected to Huntington Beach as possible!

Thank you so much, Kimberly!

Bison and calf

The Bison is the largest land mammal in North America. A single calf is born after a 9 month gestation period, usually in April or May. The newborn weights between 25 and 40 pounds. Within the first week, a calf is able to graze and drink water. The calf stays close to the mother and after one month gravitates toward other calves in "play groups".

Cryptozoology Map

Cryptozoology is a pseudoscience involving the search for animals whose existence has not been proven. The animals cryptozoologists study are often referred to as cryptids, a term coined by John Wall in 1983. This includes looking for living examples of animals that are considered extinct, such as non-avian dinosaurs; animals whose existence lacks physical evidence but which appear in myths, legends, or are reported, such as Bigfoot and Chupacabra; and wild animals dramatically outside their normal geographic ranges, such as phantom cats (also known as Alien Big Cats).

Cryptozoology is not a recognized branch of zoology or a discipline of science. It is an example of pseudoscience because it relies heavily upon anecdotal evidence, stories and alleged sightings.

Empire State Building, New York, USA [US-2906901]

The Empire State Building is a 103-story skyscraper located in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and West 34th Street. It has a roof height of 1,250 feet (380 m), and with its antenna spire included, it stands a total of 1,454 feet (443 m) high. Its name is derived from the nickname for New York, the Empire State. It stood as the world's tallest building for nearly 40 years, from its completion in early 1931 until the topping out of the original World Trade Center's North Tower in late 1970. Following the September 11 attacks in 2001, the Empire State Building was again the tallest building in New York (although it was no longer the tallest in the US or the world), until One World Trade Center reached a greater height on April 30, 2012. The Empire State Building is currently the fourth-tallest completed skyscraper in the United States (after the One World Trade Center, the Willis Tower and Trump International Hotel and Tower, both in Chicago), and the 23rd-tallest in the world (the tallest now is Burj Khalifa, located in Dubai). It is also the fifth-tallest freestanding structure in the Americas.
